NMEC: separate exhibition system from object record
A route for coordinated backgrounds, integrated graphics, controlled light and thematic display.

Record the display module
Begin with a whole wall, case or platform that shows how objects, text, image and lighting form a unit. This is evidence of present exhibition design, not proof that the objects share an original setting. Date the frame and retain section headings.
Move from module to object
Make a locator, complete object image, alternate angle and label. Preserve the mount and backing in at least one frame. When a tight crop removes the system, state that decision and keep the wider source connected.
Test color and contrast
Designed backgrounds strongly affect perceived surface color and silhouette. Compare boundaries from another permitted angle and retain unedited masters. Discuss background as a curatorial layer; rely on responsible technical records for material or pigment.
Map eye line and distance
Record plinth height, case depth and camera position. Integrated displays can invite one clear view while hiding top, reverse or side surfaces. List those absences rather than turning the preferred view into a claim about the complete object.
Read thematic sequence cautiously
Section graphics may organize objects by idea rather than strict time or provenance. Photograph the exact heading and verify each object independently. Use displayed in this section rather than found together unless the responsible record supports that relationship.
Export two records
Publish an exhibition view for the curatorial system and an object view for close reading. Attach creator, date, source, edits and current status to both. The paired record prevents context from disappearing while keeping present design separate from ancient evidence.
Compare modules, not isolated colors
When sections use different backing or light, photograph each complete display module from a comparable distance. Confirm the organizing text before assigning meaning and keep object facts sourced independently.
Check the final interface
At phone width, ensure designed backgrounds remain distinct from website panels and captions stay attached to the correct image. Responsive crops must preserve case edges and mounts mentioned in prose.
Record alternate sightlines
A thematic module can be encountered from more than one route. Photograph the first visible anchor from each permitted approach and note which text appears later. This prevents one personal path from becoming a universal description of the exhibition argument.
